Bubba Gump is a great place to take visitors to soak up the views, without the higher price tag of eating on the peak. Part of a large chain, this is an American style diner complete with jukebox music. Tables are cluttered with a bucket containing sauces and Forest Gump memorabilia.
As to be expected, shrimp is available in almost every conceivable format with an emphasis on the deep fat frier. There is one whole page of shrimp specials. For a range of cooking styles try the American seafood platter, which features chilled shrimps, fried shrimps, coconut shrimps and popcorn shrimps. Be warned that all portions are typically large American servings. Steak and crab combo come with two enormous steamed Alaskan king crab legs, half a pound of US strip loin steak and a mound of mashed potatoes. Southern fried chicken or baby back ribs are both heavy, stodgy dishes with thick sauces and a greasy finish. Desserts are gigantic servings and it is best to share one with the whole table or just have as a meal in itself.
A limited list but all available by the glass and reasonably priced. Speciality drinks and smoothies are deservedly popular and well worth sampling.
Jeans and baseball attired staff have pleasant smiles and helpful attitudes.
A very filling three-course meal for two would be around $800, but one main course at around $150 should be enough for most people. A very reasonable way to dine on the peak.
