Setting:

Perched on top of the IFC mall, H-One exudes class, elegance and prestige. Unparalleled views of Kowloon lay beyond stunning floor-to-ceiling windows.

Food:

A restaurant that arrogantly hails itself, “The Ultimate Dining Experience” creates extremely high expectations; luckily Executive Chef Stefano Peche delivers. An unbeatable view, with exquisite service and sublime cuisine makes H One an experience not to be missed. The signature “spanked” beef carpaccio Piemonte style, which is served with lemon, extra virgin olive oil and prezzemolo, is a meat lovers classic and is both succulent and tangy. A preferable option is the exceptional fois gras, which arrives in a huge portion, nestling on mouthwatering Vin Santo poached apples with Barolo cinnamon orange glaze. For mains, the bold Sardinian smoked eel is the perfect accompaniment to the delicate al-dente spinosini, which is sprinkled with chives and decadent black caviar, while the hearty Wagyu sirloin is a triumph. For the finale, melting chocolate encased in a sumptuous cupcake spilled onto caramelised apricots is perfectly juxtaposed by a zesty passion fruit sorbet and a drizzle of red berry sauce.

Wine:

Extensive and impressive. “The Wine Experience” hails both Old and New Word wines, with rare vintage choices for the connoisseur.

8

Service:

Discrete, informative and observant without being overbearing.

Price:

At $1,726 for two (not including drinks) the meal was costly, but with an expense account or special occasion at hand, it is worth every cent.

Signature dishes:

  • "Spanked" beef carpaccio Piemonte style
  • Sardinian smoked eel spinosini
  • 24 oz the big "H" steak

Try the vodka pasta - it's my go-to dish when I can't decide what to have...and the perfect antidote to a hangover. The steaks are fab, too.

Pros: safe option. you can't order anything bad. cool view and buzzy atmosphere

Cons: bit businessy, and not the place to cosy up in winter...

The atmosphere here is warm and relaxing, the perfect place for either a romantic meal or even business dinners, and the view of the harbour from the picture windows are stunning, so book one of the corner tables next to the window. The only drawback is that the seating seemed a little crowded - I would have preferred a bit more space away from my neighbours.

I tried the set tasting menu, and all of the dishes were perfectly done, with just the right balance of flavours. The wait staff, were especially friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

Pros: Fantastic views, warm ambiance

Cons: Seating is quite close together.
