Hurray! Winter is finally over and it's time to start making the most of these blue skies before the rain sets in. So check out our favourite places for lunching al fresco.
The Peak Lookout has a beautiful garden overlooking the water, which is a rare occurrence in Hong Kong. Fairy lights twinkle in the surrounding trees and on top of the peak, the air somehow feels cleaner. The menu serves just about every cuisine you can imagine, including everything from oysters to curry. While the cuisine will not blow you away, the atmosphere more than makes up for it.
A little piece of a holiday resort on Hong Kong island, Spices has a wonderful paved terrace overlooking Repulse Bay. A variety of Asian cuisine is served at good value prices and the weekend brunches are a lavish old Hong Kong experience.
Gaia has a unique setting for Hong Kong and with a fountain running in the background and a patio dining area on the edge of the Grand Millennium Plaza, it feels like a small Roman trattoria. All the Italian classics grace the menu and the fresh seafood is particularly recommended.
Red’s paved patio overlooking the harbour is a chilled out, funky al fresco lunch option with low sofas and fountains adding to the atmosphere. The Californian cuisine is beautifully presented and there is a good range of healthy options for the weight-conscious diners coming out of the attached Pure gym.
On the top floor of Jumbo floating restaurant in the middle of Shum Wan Pier, Top Deck has a unique setting. One of the quietest terraces in Hong Kong, there are chill-out sofas and often live jazz adds to the atmosphere. The cuisine is classic brasserie fare with a good selection of seafood, including sushi and tandoori or grilled meats.

My friend and I are tired of sitting next to noisy patrons in the restaurants. For our next gathering, we would like to have a private space to enjoy ourselves. We are looking at numbers between 6-20. Can you suggest some venues? |
