The Rise of McGourmet

Burgers have officially gone high-end in Hong Kong. Check out our guide to the best haute-cuisine burgers in the city.

Dukes Burger

The king of the gourmet burger, Dukes is a new restaurant in Soho serving a fantastic range of burgers, which are all packed full of luxury ingredients; from the US short ribs and truffle burger topped with decadent foie gras to the blue swimmer crab and sweet corn burger with oven-dried tomatoes and guacamole. As if these creations don’t sound decadent enough enough, the beef in all the beef burgers is 100% Wagyu and a range of freshly baked buns are paired with different meats for the perfect combination of textures and flavours. Even the side dishes are innovative, with delicacies such as sweet potato fries and wasabi tater tots gracing the menu. Portions are delicate allowing diners to fully take advantage of the vast selection of desserts and milkshakes, including unusual concoctions such as lavender and Belgium beer milkshake.

Madison’s

Madison’s takes a decadent approach to modern American cuisine and this includes several luxury burgers. The sirloin burger with pan-seared foie gras may be a heart attack on a plate, but it is a deliciously decadent take on an old classic, while the slow-cooked Tasmanian lamb leg burger is perfectly seasoned with thyme and complimented by smoked cheddar, rocket and garlic aioli.

Harlan’s

Harlan’s is a classic European restaurant overlooking the harbour with fantastically decadent cuisine, including the signature HG Burger with smoked gouda, crispy bacon and truffle mayonnaise. The smoky flavours of the gouda work in perfect contract to the soft meat and crunchy bacon, creating a burger of goramet proportions.

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon

It truly is a sign that the humble burger has gone up in the world when it graces the menus of world-renowned chefs such as Joel Robuchon. “Le burger” is a signature dish in L’Atelier and it is no surprise why. The decadent beef is teamed with a delicate slice of seared foie gras and topped with an innovative citrus salsa, which offsets the rich meat to perfection.

The Press Room

The Press Room serves classic French brasserie cuisine in New York-style surroundings and its burger has been a hit on the menu since it opened. It may not be a particularly innovative burger but it is perfectly executed with flame-grilled meat, crunchy salad and a creamy burger sauce to marry all the flavours together.

Exclusive Entertainment

My friend and I are tired of sitting next to noisy patrons in the restaurants. For our next gathering, we would like to have a private space to enjoy ourselves. We are looking at numbers between 6-20. Can you suggest some venues?
