Located on the ground floor in Lan Kwai Fong, Va Bene is an oasis away from the hectic nightlife outside. The decor is clean and modern with high ceilings, a wrap around bar and a split level dining area.
Va Bene is a Lan Kwai Fong institution and continues to live up to its reputation. The mozzarella alla caprese is a perfect starter, with fresh tomatoes and large chunks of creamy mozzarella, and the beef carpaccio, a signature dish, is perfected with black truffle puree and is a must try. The fresh pasta pockets filled with meat ragout in sage, butter, bacon and black truffle are amazingly rich and the spaghetti with clams is simple and very fresh. There are also a wide variety of meat and seafood dishes on selection as an alternative to pasta. The chocolate flan with vanilla sauce is beautifully presented and filled with molten chocolate, which is a deliciously rich way to round off the meal.
The wine list is extensive and ranges from very reasonable to very expensive with something for everyone. The Ripassa comes highly recommended, it is an excellent wine at a reasonably price.
The service is friendly and the waiters have a good understanding of the menu and how the dishes are prepared.
A three-course dinner for two, excluding drinks, will cost around $800.
