Setting
Quaint with a touch of colonial flair, this restaurant has it all. Linger over a long lunch in the garden while enjoying the panoramic view, or opt for a romantic evening with someone special under the stars.

Food
This international menu offers plenty of variety, as well as the usual favourites. Classic Italian Caesar salad and the Australian beef hamburger do not disappoint. The main course signature dishes include tandoori chicken, which is spicy and succulent, and garden charcoal barbequed New Zealand lamb rack that is tender and juicy. A number of Asian specialities bring a local flavour to the menu with the Hainan chicken being a firm favourite. A separate dessert menu offers classic bread and butter pudding as well as Mojito cheesecake and a variety of after-dinner tipples, which can be accompanied (outdoors) by a Cuban cigar. Vegetarians are also well catered for in this family-friendly establishment, which can also accommodate pampered pooches in a special outdoor section of the restaurant.

Wine
An extensive wine list offers both classic and New World options that are available in reasonably priced bottles for those long lunches. Wine by the glass also offers good variety and comes from Argentina, Chile, Italy, Germany, and Australia.

Price
A lunch for two comes in at about $800 but the view and ambience are priceless.

I have been coming here for the past 15 years. It used to be called The Peak Cafe and then it changed hands to The Peak Lookout, to my relief, not much changed. The high ceilings of the old tram depot building that the restaurant uses gives a fresh and colonial ambiance to the place and if its not raining, I would always recommended eating outside where you will be surrounded by the lush green hillside. My favorite dish: Tandoori salmon
