On the top floor of the Jumbo boat, which is anchored in Aberdeen harbor, Top Deck has one of the most beautiful terraces in Hong Kong. It’s huge, quiet and simply decorated, in keeping with the boat.
Top Deck offers simple, fairly straightforward cuisine from a range of countries with a strong emphasis on seafood. There’s nothing on the menu that is particularly surprising or that will blow you away but equally, you won’t be disappointed by the simple cuisine. All the ingredients are very fresh, and well-flavoured. In particular, the seafood starters are simple but delicious. For meat fans, there is a good selection of steaks, an excellent hamburger and a good choice of meats and fish prepared in the tandoori oven. Like the main menu, the desserts are classic and fairly unimaginative but delicious nonetheless. The unavoidable creme brulee is a creamy and delicious way to end the menu but nothing exceptional. Top Deck is more of an enjoyable dining experience than an emporium of top-quality cuisine. The food won’t let you down and is reasonably priced but it is the atmosphere that keeps drawing back customers.
A good wine list, with the bottles interestingly ranked by flavour and not, as usual, by geographic provenance.
The service is friendly and relaxed, which means it is not always particularly efficient but it suits the atmosphere of the restaurant.
A seafood dinner for two, excluding drinks, is around $ 1,000.
