Berry Bros and Rudd is the oldest wine and spirit merchant in Britain, having traded from the same shop on St James’s Street in London since 1698. Despite Berry’s history, it is one of the most innovative and modern wine and spirit merchants. Wines can be indented into Hong Kong if they are not available in Berry’s list here. There is a good selection available in the shop. Bordeaux includes Chateau Palmer, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Pontet Canet, Chateau Lynch Bages and Chateau La Mission Haut Brion. From Burgundy, there is the hard to find Domaine de la Romanee Conti. There is a good range of New World wines, including Torbreck and Ridge from California. Berry's also has some decent inexpensive own brand wines. Delivery is free for purchases over $1,500. All staff have received good training and are able to offer advice.
Wines are available from most parts of the world at this convenient wine shop. France, Italy, Chile and New Zealand are well represented but the strongest country is Australia. Producers such as St Hallett, Beresford, Grant Burge, Salena and Rymill are all well represented. The Connoisseurs Collection consists of wines selected for their highest quality for price ratio and the Special Cellar Collection consists of wines that are amongst the highest quality in the world. Delivery for six bottles or above is free. Joining the Cellarmaster's Wine Club has many benefits including 15 to 25 percent discount off retail prices and up to 40 percent off special offers. Members enjoy free storage and have free weekly wine tastings.
Red Wine Village is the retail outlet of Everwise Wine Limited and it has branches in Central and Shatin. As an Australian fine wine specialist, over 3,000 Australian wines are available including some sought after vintages and rare varietals. Red Wine Village is the sole distributor of Bannockburn, Bass Philip, Jasper Hill, Mount Langhi Ghiran, Punters Corner, Hungerford Hill, and Yering Station. A cellar club membership is available to anyone who purchases over $800 of wine. Benefits include a bonus points scheme, and discounts of up to 15 percent on purchases of 12 bottles or more. Force 8 Cellars has been in business since 1992. Having initially specialized in importing Australian and Italian wines, it has considerably expanded its portfolio in recent years. Wines from Argentina include Trapiche and Luigi Bosca, Australian wines include Kingston and Leconfield. Fantinel, a fairly rare wine from Cuba makes an unusal appearance. There is a good selection of Pommery Champagne and Henri de Villamont Burgundies from France and Italy is well-represented with wines from Gruppo Italiano Vini and Gancia. There is also an excellent choice of Mikasa glassware and the ‘Open Up’ range made from “Kwarx” are almost unbreakable and good value at $100 per glass. Delivery of wine is free for purchases over $1,500. The website is not fully up-to-date but contains useful links to producers.

In addition to wine, there is also a wide range of wine accessories such as crystal glasses, decanters, openers and wine cellars, as well as cigar and cigar accessories. Wines are imported from all over the world and are generally high quality. Champagnes are well represented with Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Dom Perignon and Louis Roederer available. Top Italian wines include Gaja, Altesino, Ornellaia, Solaia and Sassicaia. Delivery is free to Wan Chai or Central but for all other areas, a minimum purchase of over $1,000 is required. The VIP Club offers 10 percent discount on regular priced bottles and an additional five percent discount on cases. Gift boxes decorated with famous art make this a good place to buy gifts
Established in 1988, Ponti was carries between 800 to 1,200 wines and wine accessories, such as decanters, glasses, openers and wine cellars. It is particularly strong on Bordeaux with many classed growths available including Chateau Leoville Barton, Chateau Lynch Bages and Chateau Palmer. California is also well represented with Dutton, Heitz, Saintsbury and St Francis. Rare Italian, Australian and German producers also feature. The VIP Club offers discounts even on promotional items. Delivery is free for purchases of above $1,000 or of 12 bottles. Ponti conducts wine tastings and other special wine events. Most purchases are eligible to earn Asia Miles.
Mr. K.K.Wong the GM and founder of the company is something of a wine celebrity in Hong Kong and has over 30 years of experience in the business. The excellent selection of wine includes varietals from several famous vineyards such as Louis Latour, Jaboulet,and Hugel. Wines are imported using Remy Fine Wines, who recently closed their retail wine shop in Pacific Place, but still import and wholesale as strongly as ever. Rare and Fine are also the local representatives for Jacquesson Champagne and Saracina wines of California. The range of Bordeaux wines is extensive with many first growths. There are also some prestigious Burgundies from renowned domains including Romanee Conti. There is a good range of Italian wines such as Gaja, Ornellaia,Solaia and Sassicaia. The website is excellent and enrolling on the e-mail list means you will receive special offers and invitations to tastings.
Castello Del Vino shops are the retail outlets of Valdivia, a specialist importer of Italian wines. Unfortunately there is no website so checking what is available in advance is not possible, although staff are able to give useful suggestions and prices over the phone. Major producers include Zenato from Valpolicella, Farnese and San Felice from Tuscany, Fontanafredda from Piedmont and Cusumano from Sicily. The latter’s Nero d’Avola is excellent value at just over $100. Delivery is free for 12 bottles or purchases over $1,000.
Watson’s have been voted “Hong Kong's Best Wine Store” and “Best Retailer” by various publications and it is little wonder as there are over 2,000 wines available. Champagnes include top producers such as Krug, Dom Perignon and Salon. There are many classed growths from Bordeaux, including firsts with several different vintages of each chateau. French producers also include Guigal from the Rhone and Zind Humbrecht from Alsace. Italy is also well represented with Castello di Fonterutoli, Ceretto and Planeta and of the New World, there are wines from some of Australia’s best known producers Cullen,D’Arenberg, Majella and Peter Lehman. From Chile, there are Cono Sur and Montes, whilst from California wines include Beringer and Trefethen. New Zealand wines are strongly represented with Craggy Range, Felton Road, Palliser Estate and Quartz Reef all available. All staff take the Wine and Spirit Education Trust courses.
